     HOLTON MIDDLE SCHOOL PARTICIPATED IN A MOCK ELECTION ON NOVEMBER 4......ELECTION DAY.

     Voters turned out in record numbers today as they cast their votes and made history.

     292 votes were cast out of a possible 316 participants.  All four grades and staff have given the Democratic candidate the approval to be our next president.  Barack Obama will be the next president of the United States of America.

     The 5th grade gave Obama 61 votes to McCain's 20 votes.  In the 6th grade 62 voted Obama while 21 votes went to McCain.  7th graders gave Obama 48 votes while McCain tallied 18 and two votes went to Ralph Nader.  In the 8th grade there were 2 votes cast for Nader, 1 for Paul, McCain scored 8 while Obama tallied 49 votes.

     What a day it was!  The students had to register, receive a ballot, vote in the booths, and place their ballots in the ballot boxes.  There were election officials present every step of the way.

Final Count.....

220 for Obama          67 for McCain          5 for 3rd Party
