From the Principal
Holton is located in the northeast corner of Muskegon County, on the west side of Michigan's lower peninsula. It is approximately 15 miles east of Muskegon, and 45 miles northwest of Grand Rapids. Our rural community has a population of approximately 400 people, but the bussing district is one of the largest in the state of Michigan. Holton Middle School employs 27 staff and 15 support staff members, who lead and assist a student body of 306. This ratio of 7/1 helps make HMS one of the leading schools in the area when it comes to technology, innovation, and test scores. This past year, HMS added another computer lab, expanded its physical education area, increased elective choices for students by adding Spanish, Drafting, Advanced Woods, Internet Design, Crime Scene Investigation (CSI), and Microsoft Applications. Holton Middle School opened in 2001. This past year Holton Public Schools again passed a bond proposal to build a 7.4 million dollar sports complex including new football stadium, baseball and softball fields, enlarged MS gymnasium, wrestling and multi-purpose room, locker rooms, and practice fields. On Friday evenings in the fall, the entire town of Holton attends football games to cheer the Red Devils on to victory. Holton Public Schools are about community. Many of the people who attended HPS in the past have chosen to work in the area, and raise their own families in the district. All of us here in Red Devil country invite you and your family to come check us out. At Holton Public Schools, we are committed to excellence! |
