Board of Education Goals

2006-2007

Goal #1

The Board of Education will support the development and implementation of district wide school improvement processes and educational practices resulting in 100% of Holton students scoring proficient on the MEAP Test by 2014.

Short Term Goal - Each building will achieve AYP Status in 2006-2007.

Objective 1: Conduct District Wide Assessment of Academic Programs

Objective 2: Implementation of District Wide Collection Student of Achievement Data

Goal #2

The Board will strive to keep the District financially solvent while maintaining a quality educational environment and a ten (10) percent fund balance by June 30, 2009.

Short Term Goal A - Achieve a contract settlement with the HEA.

Objective 1: Develop and adopt a fiscally responsible salary scale

  • Strategies: Introduce expanded longevity salary schedule

Objective 2: Identify and adopt a cost effective health insurance program for HEA members

Short Term Goal B - Increase projected fund balance to 7% as of July 1, 2007

Objective 1: Assess and evaluate all purchasing and expenditure practices, budget line items

Objective 2: Implement district wide curriculum/textbook review purchase schedule

Goal #3

The Board of Education will develop and implement a district wide systemic public relations program to promote our school district.

Short Term Goal A - Conduct a district wide image/needs assessment using an outside public relations facilitator.

Objective 1: Conduct information gathering from parent/community focus groups

  • Strategies: Focus group discussion at each building and or department setting.
